Eugene Saturday

Bill and I met at the parking garage near the market, free on Saturdays, and then set off towards the steps beside the lovely Victorian Shelton-McMurphy House leading up the back side of Skinner’s Butte. We’re trying to get in some hills to get psyched up for Tibet in the fall.

Once we crested and took in the view over Eugene, we took the shaded trail down past the Eagle’s Nest. In the photo below, it’s a brown patch in the more distant tree three-quarters over to the right. Nobody home there.

If I were an eagle, I’d want to be catching some of this perfect sunshine on my wings today. After taking in the city from the heights, it was an easy mile back to level ground and the organic produce of our nearby farms. Blueberries, raspberries, cherries, and cauliflower today, and nothing else. My refrigerator crisper is still full of the summer veggies I couldn’t resist last week.
