Bellingham Weekend

We are on our way home after enjoying a relaxing weekend with son Ben and family. Friday morning was clear enough for Bill and I to enjoy our traditional walk along the bay in Fairhaven.

The rain and mist settled in the afternoon, but we were cozy under the deck heater,  chatting with the teen grandkids as they came and went. A lone bald eagle, a deer and fawns venturing out of the neighbor’s bushes, and the family dogs kept us entertained. We sampled cider at a local restaurant and watched Jaws together, commercials and all.

Our oldest granddaughter served us breakfast at her summer workplace. Ben’s wife Marin made the best lasagna. I was tempted into 2 double helpings in two days, and I don’t regret it. Our grandson’s latest passion is tennis, and I was happy to retrieve stray balls while he played with his dad. The tennis court was in beautiful Whatcom Park, so I strolled around a bit, watching the dragonflies at Derby Pond and wondering why the fish hatchery was closed (we still don’t know).

The sun came out for our last afternoon to brighten our views of the lake. We’re driving home grateful for a relaxing time with our folks.
