Head-hopping

& Whistle-stopping

Hanging with the iconic flying people at Eugene Airport

The mix of things I am thinking about right now could not be found in anyone else’s mind. In the first half of my life, I read voraciously. In the second half, I have followed my destination-collector husband to many countries, doing my best to study up on the culture and language of each. I have followed my own family’s roots deep into centuries of residence in Kent County, Delaware. I studied British Literature, but why would I keep it simple? I specialized in Literature and Anthropology, examining the British view of the world’s cultures with a critical eye. Lately, perhaps in some effort at synthesis, I have taken to writing fiction. Little wonder that I have trouble sticking to a single point of view. Yes, I have been accused of head-hopping.

I have decided: it’s time to weave something out of all this disparate experience before I merge into the world of the spirits. Each week, I will try to pull a few threads out of the tangle of plaques and synapses in the old gray matter, make a little bookmark out of it, and give it away.
